Review: The Lost Girl

Eva’s life is not her own. She is a creation, an abomination – an echo. Made by the Weavers as a copy of someone else, she is expected to replace a girl named Amarra, her ‘other’, if she ever died. Eva studies what Amarra does, what she eats, what it’s like to kiss her boyfriend, Ray. So when Amarra is killed in a car crash, Eva should be ready. But fifteen years of studying never prepared her for this. Now she must abandon everything she’s ever known – the guardians who raised her, the boy she’s forbidden to love – to move to India and convince the world that Amarra is still alive ...

Time Travel? Yes, I think so!

A guest post by Sheryl Steines

If you could go anywhere, meet any person, in any period of time, where would you go, what would you do, who would you meet? I know this is all hypothetical, but hey, I write in the pretend--in the fantasy. So suspend your disbelief, and come play with me for a moment. Not such an easy question to answer, is it? One option would be to go and meet someone long dead--perhaps Elvis circa 1959 makes your heart swoon. Would you take the opportunity to meet a favorite entertainer, or maybe you want your trip to count for something meaningful?

Blog Tour Review: First Frost

Welcome to my stop on First Frost Tour hosted by Young Adult Novel Reader.
See the Tour Schedule here

For generations, the Frost family has run the Museum of Magical and Rare Artifacts, handing down guardianship from mother to daughter, always keeping their secrets to “family only.” Gathered within museum’s walls is a collection dedicated to the Grimm fairy tales and to the rare items the family has acquired: Cinderella’s glass slipper, Snow White’s poisoned apple, the evil queen’s magic mirror, Sleeping Beauty’s enchanted spinning wheel…Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. She knows the items in the glass display cases are fakes because, of course, magic doesn't really exist. She’s about to find out how wrong she is.

ARC Review: Confessions of an Angry Girl

Author: Louise Rozett
Rose Zarelli, self-proclaimed word geek and angry girl, has some confessions to make…
1. I'm livid all the time. Why? My dad died. My mom barely talks. My brother abandoned us. I think I'm allowed to be irate, don't you
2. I make people furious regularly. Want an example? I kissed Jamie Forta, a badass guy who might be dating a cheerleader. She is now enragedand out for blood. Mine.
3. High school might as well be Mars. My best friend has been replaced by an alien, and I see red all the time. (Mars is red and "seeing red" means being angry—get it?) Here are some other vocab words that describe my life: Inadequate. Insufferable. Intolerable.(Don't know what they mean? Look them up yourself.
Review:
I really love the cover. Blue and white look awesome together!

Have you ever been so angry that nothing else matters. That all you wanted was to throw something or punch someone?

Rose Zarelli, is angry. Angry because her father died, angry that her brother would rather spend thanksgiving with his girlfriend than her, angry that her mother is acting more like a therapist than a mom, angry that her best friend Tracy wants to have sex with a guy who is a complete jerk, angry that the guy she likes has a girlfriend who is mean and wants to destroy her life.

Before starting the book I was a little skeptical. I mean, the MC is 14 years old. I wasn't sure that I would be able to connect with her but I loved the book. It's one of the most realistic novel that I have read in a long time.

I liked Rose. I could understand her anger and pain. Losing someone is hard. Moving on with life is not easy especially for a 14 year old girl who just enters the big bad world i.e. High School. Rose has flaws, she takes some bad decisions. All these things made her real and relate-able. I liked Jamie. He is kinda cute with his mysterious ways and I can see that he cares for Rose. It's sweet. Though I would have liked him better if he would have let Rose punch Regina. I really hate Regina. How can anyone be so mean? *hmph* Tracy, um...I didn't like her. She was not a good friend. She was just too selfish and weak. But towards the end, she does realize her mistake and I hope she will be more like-able in the next book.

The writing is really good. I could feel the emotions that Rose was going through. I even shed a few tears with her whenever she talked about her Dad. The author did a great job in getting into the head of a 14 year old.  I wish this book came out when I was 14.

Rose grows so much through the book. I hope she made that website for her father. I really liked the idea. I didn't know that this book was a part of the series. The ending left me wanting more. I need the next book.

All The Wrong Reasons (Wrong Reasons, #1)

Irelyn's life is headed in the right direction: College education, new friends, fantastic boyfriend. Her dream of writing romance novels isn't too far out of reach. Her relationship with her family is good. And to top it all off, she's positive her boyfriend is going to propose soon. Yes, life is wonderful.
Until that night with Lucas changes everything.

Author: J.L. Paul

I am so angry. I have this huge TBR pile and I wasted my entire day on this book. It was so not worth it! Urgh....
                     Photobucket

I can't read this book anymore. I am at page number 80 and I am fed up with all the drama.
My main problem with the book is the female protagonist Irelyn (what is the deal with her name?). She is a selfish, stupid and a big-fat liar. She doesn't think about anyone other than herself. And yet, everyone seems to love her. When you don't like the main character, it is really hard to like the book. I still tried.

In short, the plot is that, Irelyn cheats on her boyfriend(Dustin) then feels guilty and then cheats on him again.
And she does this for almost the entire book (Atleast, for as long as I could bear to read it).
Lucas is the guy she is sleeping with. He is supposed to be a one-night stand but she can't control herself around him. (Really?) She doesn't even have proper conversation with Lucas. Granted, he is hot with a sexy Australian accent but cheating is never cool and it makes me sad that books like this are trying to justify it.

At one point, when she thinks that she might be pregnant with Lucas's child, she is ready to lie to her boyfriend and tell him that the baby is his.

The book and the characters were really getting on my nerves so I decided to not read it any further.
What surprises me is that the book has such a high rating. It even has a sequel. *breaks down and cries*
Maybe, something is wrong with me.(I knew this day would come!)
I liked thoughtless, so I assumed I would like this book too.(If you haven't guessed, I didn't)

P.S. I don't like giving bad reviews. But I truly hated this book.

Book Review: Some Girls Are

Climbing to the top of the social ladder is hard--falling from it is even harder.  Regina Afton used to be a member of the Fearsome Fivesome, an all-girl clique both feared and revered by the students at Hallowell High... until vicious rumors about her and her best friend's boyfriend start going around.  Now Regina's been "frozen out" and her ex-best friends are out for revenge.  If Regina was guilty, it would be one thing, but the rumors are far from the terrifying truth and the bullying is getting more intense by the day.  She takes solace in the company of Michael Hayden, a misfit with a tragic past who she herself used to bully.  Friendship doesn't come easily for these onetime enemies, and as Regina works hard to make amends for her past, she realizes Michael could be more than just a friend... if threats from the Fearsome Foursome don't break them both first.
