Book Review: Bloodlines

Author: Richelle Mead
When alchemist Sydney is ordered into hiding to protect the life of Moroi princess Jill Dragomir, the last place she expects to be sent is a human private school in Palm Springs, California. But at their new school, the drama is only just beginning.

Review:

I read this book only for Adrian.
He is still cocky and charming as ever. I couldn't help but smile whenever he entered a scene.

“Takes a lot of tries before you hit perfection." He paused to reconsider that. "Well, except for my parents. They got it on the first try." - Adrian

“You look confused," said Adrian.
I shook my head and sighed. "I think I'm just overthinking things."
He nodded solemnly. "That's why I try to never do it.”

I hated how he was treated in LS and I was hoping that finally he would get his happy ending. (He deserves it)
But this is not his love story. There is hardly any romance. And honestly, in the first half there is hardly any Adrian. :(

Sydney is um....... not Rose.
She is just so dull. Rose was witty, sarcastic and kick-ass. Sydney, on the other hand is uninteresting, filled with self-doubt and boring.
I don't want to compare them especially after what Rose did to Adrian. But Rose was far more fun. I just couldn't connect with Sydney.

Just to be clear, I don't hate her. She has potential. Her character grows through the book and in the last few pages she stands up to Abe.
So I ask only one thing;
Mead, please.. please.. make Sydney a little more interesting and fun. Don't ruin this.Like you ruined Dimitri. And, it will be all ok.

Jill is selfish, whiny and really annoying. I fail to understand why everyone was so in love with her. I didn't care about her. I really wish she was less in the story.

The book is so predictable. Nothing surprised me!
The bad guys I knew who they were really soon enough and I can't believe that it took Sydney so long to figure it out.

The book is good enough.
It's just that I loved the VA series and had really high expectations from this,and it's not as good. I am a little disappointed.

Though, Mead still writes awesome dialogues;

“Thanks for looking out for her, Sage. You're okay. For a human."I almost laughed. "Thanks.""You can say it too, you know."I walked over to Latte and paused. "Say what?""That I'm okay...for a vampire," he explained.I shook my head, still smiling. "You'll have a hard time getting any Alchemist to admit that. But I can say you're okay for an irreverent party boy with occasional moments of brilliance.""Brilliant? You think I'm brilliant?" He threw his hands skyward. "You hear that, world? Sage says I'm brilliant.”

Team Adrian or Team Dimitri?
