2.5 stars
*The book was sent to me via email from Shut Up & Read*.
After crawling her way out of Hell, Six is ready to cast aside her angel wings and all the responsibilities that come with them. But Earth is not as peaceful as she imagined it. Demons, dark angels, and other hell-beasties escaped before her, and they're not as content as she is to live a quiet life on Earth.
A fellow angel who escaped Hell with her commits a series of soul-murders, destroying human souls so they can't go to the afterlife. Although Six has conflicting feelings about humans, she goes after the other angel to keep their escape a secret from the one she fears most.
What I liked
This book has comic book type B&W drawings which is a new idea and I loved it. More books should have it.(Anybody listening?)
I liked the story, it was quite interesting. The book has a solid beginning. It had potential to be really good.
What I disliked
The book is more like a really long prologue. Nothing much happens in this. I feel kind of cheated.
Even after reading the book I know nothing about the characters or the story. I know that it is going to have a sequel and the author probably wanted to keep things for the next book but it would have been better if we were told more, so as to understand the characters more.
I have so many unanswered questions.
The characters are not properly developed. I didn't care for them much. I could not understand their POV.
The story is very short, has some really creepy and weird scenes dealing with demons and monsters. The writing style is descriptive. There is not much of romance in the book.
I feel kind of bad for giving it only 2.5 stars. It's not really bad but it's not great either.
Thanks for the review! The drawings sound interesting but I'll likely skip this one.
