REVIEW:

Mia goes to a park for a run and stumbles upon a body. The man appears dead and right before her eyes a shadow appears above him ,which then turns into a dog(kinda thingy) with red eyes and it attacks her. She closes her eyes, ready for death, when suddenly the dogs disappear and she is lying alone on the ground. She sees a boy across the clearing but before she could say anything he turns and walks away.

Later she finds out that the boy, Michael is a new student in her school. He is totally hot but he is also mysterious and keeps showing up whenever she is in trouble. He has secrets and a past connection to Mia around which the whole story revolves. Wait, there is  Damiel too. He is a demon and he also enrolls in the same school and he is also good-looking and is trying to woo Mia.

I enjoyed the book but there is nothing new in the story. While reading I kept thinking that I've already read this many times in may different YA novels. Come-on, a mysterious new boy who keeps saving the girl and then tells her to stay away from him. Forbidden love, a bad guy who also likes the girl. Sounds familiar, huh? That is not to say that this a bad book. The twilight formula is very popular and makes an entertaining and interesting book. But I've read better books on the angel/demon theme so I'm reluctant to give this more than 3 stars. It's really not very original.

I liked Michael. He is sweet and caring but he is the king in giving mixed signals. It's infuriating, really. I didn't like Damiel. I would have like if his character had more layers. Mia  is the typical YA heroine that keeps needing to be saved. I like Bill, he was a great brother. I wanted more of him. I liked Heather and Jesse too. Also I loved Farouk and his creepy stories.

I would have liked the romance more if it had progressed slowly. After only knowing Micheal for some time, Mia behaved like they had been in a relationship for years. I know that she has a history and she does know him since some past lifetime but it still didn't look real to me. And her memories still weren't back. She didn't know what Micheal had done that made him fall. So that made me a little wary.

I used to think Ophelia was weak, but now I could relate to her. Her brother was away, her father was a total ass, and she was in love with a guy who was nice to her one minute, cold the next. Everyone had abandoned her.
