Blog Tour Review: Derailed and Veer + Giveaway!

See the Tour Schedule here

When you're lost, sometimes the only place you can go is home.

Broken over the death of her fiancé, Molly leaves law school to return to her childhood home in North Carolina. Expecting to lay low until she can figure out what else to do with her life, she finds herself in the arms of her high school sweetheart, the boy who represents everything from the past she tried to leave behind.

Looking for an escape, she instead finds a way back to the girl she almost forgot existed and a future she never dreamed possible.

REVIEW:

Derailed is easy to get into and like. It's cute and romantic. Sometimes a little cheesy but hey, I'm not complaining. I just breezed through the book and before I knew it I was on the last page. I loved the country setting. I felt like I was watching Sweet Home Alabama. Now, that's a cute movie!

Molly blames herself for the death of her fiancĂ© So, to get away from his memories and start fresh, she leaves law school and goes back home to Clayton Falls. Molly is not looking for a relationship and especially not with Ben, she broke his heart once and doesn't want to hurt him again but Ben has other plans. He never stopped loving Molly and this time he is not letting her go.

I loved the chemistry between Ben and Molly. They are super sweet together. Ben is sweet and totally swoon worthy though he gets a little overbearing at times. I couldn't connect with Molly. She blamed herself too much and for things that are not at all her fault. But she grows up through the novel and starts making the right choices.

Gavin irritated me. He was kinda creepy and wasn't enough competition to Ben in order to create an interesting love triangle. He never had a chance with Molly and I just wanted him to get away from her. I liked Jake. Kelly was fun and a good friend to Molly. I liked that everyone was so protective of Molly and cared about her. Character development could have been better.

All in all, it's a fun, sweet, fluffy romance novel. If you love rekindled, high school romances, you will probably like it too.

Only when you let go can you learn to live.

Between the death of her mother and pushing through law school without her best friend, it's been a tough year for Becca. Needing a break from Boston, she moves to a tiny coastal North Carolina town for a relaxing summer. After bumping heads repeatedly with a local cop, she realizes her summer will be anything but quiet.
Three years after a career ending injury ruins his chance to play Major League Baseball, Gavin has a distrust of northerners and lately girls in general. He wants nothing to do with a girl who is only in town for the summer.
When the two give in to their impossible attraction, they realize that they may just have found the key to freeing themselves from the ghosts of their pasts.

REVIEW:
If you've read my derailed review, you would know that I didn't like Gavin much. So I was naturally a little wary of reading his story. But, yeah Gavin turned out to be quite a revelation to me. He is sweet and vulnerable at times. He is trying to protect himself from more heart ache.

His last breakup was bad and he has issues with trust so he is rude to Becca and tries to stay away from her. And when I say rude I mean he is a complete ass/jerk to her. Their first meeting was a disaster and if I were Becca I wouldn't have talked to such a guy again . His reasons for being rude to her were also not good enough. Sorry Gavin!

I loved his family. They were so amazing and I'm glad that he finally decided to move on with life and follow his dream. It's really never too late.

Becca has scars and past of her own. She is likeable and nice. She befriends Jake and their relationship was cute. I though Jake liked her as more than a friend but I'm not sure. Becca's issues were justified and I felt bad that she had to go through so much. Her story was heart-wrenching. Gavin cares for Becca and she feels safe with him like she has never felt. They were perfect for each other. My only complaint with Becca is that she forgave Gavin quite easily. He treated her like shit. She should have made him sweat a little more.

Jake needs to stop drinking and grow up. I'm looking forward to his story. Molly and Ben make appearances and are just adorable.I think this was written better than the first one. It's light, easy and a fast read. Read the first book, see if you like it and then pick this one up.
