Review: Stalk Me (The Keatyn Chronicles #1)

Author: Jillian Dodd

Gossip girl meets Hollywood in this new series by That Boy author, Jillian Dodd.
Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed of. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She’s popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most coveted lunch table.
She’s just not sure she wants it anymore. Because really, things aren't all that perfect.

Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam.
Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to.
It’s exhausting always trying to look and act perfect.
And deep down, she isn't sure if she has any true friends.
To add to the drama, her movie star mom’s long-time fan has turned stalker.
An older man is flirting with her and telling her they should make a movie together.
And she’s crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating a guy like him would mean committing social suicide.

So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony. But little does she know, there’s someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn't happen.
REVIEW:
When I started the book I thought that I would like it. It seemed cute and fun. It started well and I was okay when we had only three guys(I think!) in the picture.

I liked Cush the most. He was super cute and adorable, but for no rhyme or reason he does something that is completely unlike his character and royally screws up. So, Keatyn breaks up with him and the book starts to go downhill from here.  (At least for me)

The MC Keatyn is shallow and jumps from one guy to next and apparently she loves all of them. huh!
I just don't understand her. I don't have a problem with her being spoiled or fickle minded or stupid. My problem is that the character shows no growth. She has no redeeming qualities and is so damn irritating.

The ENDING is my biggest issue. End the book when the stalker gets caught and give me a satisfying end. Don't just drag the story because there is a sequel planned. I don't want her to go to a boarding school and meet more guys. And poor Cush, he was just put out of the picture. Why? If Brooklyn can know about Keatyn's location, why can't Cush? There are many loose ends and so many things that make no sense.

The book has no logic and kinda assumes that readers are STUPID. I don't like that. I won't pick up the second book. The book could have been loads better. Many people do like it so, read more reviews, think about it and then decide whether you want to buy it or not.

  1. Aww, I'm sorry that you didn't like it. I've read a lot of good reviews on this one, but I understand what you mean. I hate it when a book makes everyone who reads it seem stupid, or that anyone who picks it up is going to like it.

Honestly, it sounds like a love square to me. THE DREADED LOVE SQUARE. OH, HOW I LOATHE THEE. Seriously? We all have crushes, but we don't try to hold up relationships with them all...*not gonna say anything*

    Anywho, Fantastic review!

  3. Well, many of the reviews for this book are mixed. So I don't know what to decide. I would probably put it on hold, for now.
And wait until other reviews show up. I hate it when the MC doesn't show any development of character.
    GREAT review!

  4. I've never read this summary before. Honestly, the cover puts me off but the summary made me think "this could be good." She sounded like she wanted to be a different person... that sucks that it didn't turn out well. Oh well... I expected it to be not that great before so no harm no foul for me... I might look at other reviews if they come my way but otherwise no. Thanks for the review (:

  5. This isn't something I'd normally pick up, as a general rule, I avoid contemporary YA as much as possible, making exceptions for some really big names like Melina Marchetta. But such a shallow MC, the unsatisfying ending and everything else you've mentioned would surely turn me away even if that weren't the case.
    Great review!
