James heard
every word of the conversation as he strode away. Excellent hearing; it was a perk. He had asked Erin
at the launch party if she felt unnerved by him. That was funny, since he was the one who was feeling extremely unnerved now. Why? Because he was feeling. That hadn't happened in awhile, years in fact.
“Erin .” He enjoyed the sound of her name on his
tongue. It tasted sweet, like her. And dangerous. James
never got too close to anyone. He wasn't a good guy, and girls only ever got
hurt around him. This girl
seemed
different. She saw through him, but did
she know the truth yet?
She had been spot-on about his
eyes. There was indeed something ‘wrong’
with him. James knew he should
leave
town immediately, get out of Dodge and clean up this mess. If he turned back now, it could all be over
with her in a matter of seconds. He even
stopped walking in the middle of the road.
