After Estella Montclair is killed in a texting and driving crash, what remains of her face and body is devastating. But not all of her has died. While adjusting to a new state of being, Estella struggles to face the limitations that come with death, but blossoms by recognizing she can still touch the lives of the people she once knew so well.
Review:
It's a book about losing a loved one and surviving thereafter. I felt the pain and loss in each and every line. The book is really well written. Life is so unpredictable. It's scary, isn't it?
Death is particularly hard on the people left behind. This book made me cry, made me think about life and death. We take so many things for granted and there are so many things in our lives we just don't appreciate enough. Books like this help to put things in perspective.

The beginning is really good. It engrossed me and I couldn't stop reading. The plot of the book is a little like that of The Lovely Bones and If I stay.
The best think about the book is that it's realistic. I felt connected to Estella. Her pain, her confusion, anger it all makes sense. It's natural to be angry at the person who caused the accident, to be selfish and wish that people miss you and cry at your funeral.
All the characters are well developed. I liked her friends. To know their story and read how they coped with their best friend's death was heart wrenching. We get to know Jett, Zara and Eva through Estella. She can feel their emotions and understand them better now then she ever did. All three of them were facing their own issues and each had a story.

They didn't deserve the hate or anger directed towards them by Gwen and Sonia, (friend's of Heidi who caused the accident that killed Estella). They were mean and horrible. And it was uncomfortable to read what they did to Jett and Zara.
I do have few issues with the book. Firstly, with Estella's character. She confused me. I did not understand why she was doing certain things. Especially when she watched her friends being intimate with their boyfriends. I mean, who does that? She actually watched and described everything and it was so wrong on so many levels. I also didn't like Phoenix much. He was sweet but he should have stood up for the girls. He should have done something.
The writing is really good but I think there are just too many issues dealt with in one book. The way the girls honor Estella was sweet. Their friendship is beautiful.

You are making me cry! This is actually a perfect read especially now with all the commercials I've been seeing. And of course with what's happening in the world today. Creepy about her seeing her friend's getting intimate... but it sounds like it can be good. Thanks for the review (:

Thsi is the second review I read today on this and I hadn't even heard of this book before. I like the sounds of it. The character of Estella would probably annoy me, though. Great review!
