Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.
Review:
Wow! I loved it!
This was so totally unexpected. When you think about an aliens generally a weird and rather ugly creature comes to mind. Something like this, huh?
But after reading this book I am kind of excited about aliens. If they look anything like Daemon they should all come down to earth. We will make space for for you guys. Just come down.
Where are the U.F.O.'s when you really need them?
I am so madly, deeply in love with Daemon. Yes, he can be a jerk sometimes. But that didn't stop me from falling for him.
After finishing the book last night I had this big smile on my face. I slept at around 6 am. I just couldn't put the book down. I was totally hooked.
Katy was amazing too. Generally, the female protags in YA fantasy novels get on my nerves, mainly because they are so dumb. But Katy is someone I would like to know and become friends with. She was strong and didn't take Daemon's shit. And best of all she loves reading. She is a book-blogger and that just makes her more awesome. Doesn't it?
Their chemistry was amazing. Their banter was so cute.
*sigh*
Do I need to say more?
Daemon was a jerk to her and I actually wanted to punch him a couple of times but then I also understand his point of view. I mean, he was only trying to protect his sister. Again, I need to mention that I have fallen, head over heels in love with the boy so I may be a little biased. Forgive me!
I have a big TBR pile right now and I am trying to be quick so that I finish reading atleast half of them before college starts. Therefore I was trying to avoid beginning a new series but when I saw the reviews it was getting I really couldn't stop myself. I don't regret my decision, honestly, I am kind of angry at myself for not reading this book sooner.
The book's plot is a little twilight-like and if you absolutely, truly hated that book. I think you should avoid this one.
Jennifer has written a great story with good characters and an interesting plot. If you haven't read it go buy a copy. Now!

His mouth was on mine, and I stopped breathing. He shuddered and there was a sound from the back of his throat, half growl, half moan. Little shivers of pleasure and panic shot through me as he deepened the kiss, parting my lips. I stopped thinking. I pushed off the wall, sealing the tiny space between us, pressing against him, digging my fingers into his hair. It was soft, silky. Nothing else about him felt that way. I sparked alive, my heart swelled to the point of near bursting. The rush of sensations crawling across my body was maddening. Scary. Thrilling.
